Position: Mechanical Engineer (Engineering Design Team)

Location: Vancouver, Canada & Tangshan, Hebei Province, China

Reports To: Head of Engineering Department

Job Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineer at CVIC, your role will encompass designing, optimizing, and providing technical support for mechanical systems and components used in iron ore pelletizing. You will collaborate closely with various departments to enhance product quality and efficiency, handle technical communications during project bids, and contribute to the R&D of new and existing equipment. Your work will directly support the company's commitment to innovation and operational excellence in providing solutions to the iron ore industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize product equipment, including structural design, output of design drawings, manufacturing drawings, and other drafting tasks.

  • Provide technical support for sales and service departments, such as drawing optimization and modification of tender documents.

  • Assist project managers in responding to technical inquiries and questions from bidding customers.

  • Prepare product technical documents as required by projects.

  • Participate in the improvement and upgrading of current product equipment structures and processes.

  • Engage in the trial production, research, and development, and technical support of new equipment.

 

Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar Engineering background is essential

  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Iron/Steel Industry, with a preference for those experienced in iron ore pelletizing

  • A deep knowledge and proficiency in using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. 

  • Strong business acumen in project planning and management

  • Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills

  • Good verbal, written, and communication skills in English

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues on multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

 

Languages:

Fluency in English is a must. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is considered a valuable asset.

 

Working Conditions:

May require occasional travel to project sites and client meetings. Some after-hours and weekend work might be necessary based on project requirements.

Salary: 

The base salary plus potential project commissions.
