Position: Project Manager (Mechanical Engineering Stream)

Location: Vancouver, Canada

Reports To: Project Director

Requirements: Visa Sponsorship: NOT available. Candidates are required to have a valid Canadian work visa unless they are permanent residents or citizens of Canada.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing all aspects of mechanical engineering projects, from conceptualization to completion, ensuring that they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with various departments to prepare and consolidate technical and commercial bidding proposals, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of mechanical engineering projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and review technical designs and solutions.

  • Maintain regular communication with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment on project progress and expectations.

  • Identify potential risks associated with projects and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely and quality project delivery.

  • Establish and manage project timelines, ensuring milestones are met and projects are delivered on schedule.

  • Work closely with vendors and contractors to negotiate contracts that are favorable to the organization, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Ensure all project documentation, including design blueprints, manuals, and reports, are accurately prepared, updated, and archived.

Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar Engineering background is essential

  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Iron/Steel Industry, with a preference for those experienced in iron ore pelletizing

  • A deep knowledge and proficiency in using AutoCAD is a must.

  • Strong business acumen in project planning and management

  • Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills

  • Good verbal, written, and communication skills in English

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues on multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

 

Languages:

Fluency in English is a must. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is considered a valuable asset.

 

Working Conditions:

May require occasional travel to project sites and client meetings. Some after-hours and weekend work might be necessary based on project requirements.

Salary: 

The base salary plus potential project commissions.
